I’m a self-taught watercolour artist and surface designer, originally from Christchurch, New Zealand. In August 2025, my husband and I relocated to Ireland with our two children. I’m now based here, drawing endless inspiration from the beauty and quiet charm of the Irish countryside.

My love for creativity has been a lifelong journey inspired by everything from colour to nature's beauty, personal stories, and the quiet beauty of everyday life, creating designs that bring warmth and connection into the home.

Melanie Ross Designs started back In 2018, while my husband and I were juggling life with two young children and owning a CrossFit gym, I felt a strong pull to reconnect with my artistic roots and started experimenting with watercolour, painting bold botanical designs. I had my paintings printed onto 100% New Zealand Merino which I would sew into beanies and scarves for our kids to wear to preschool, this was to be my first taste of Surface Design.

I love that Surface design allows my paintings to live beyond the paper, to make artwork that not only connects with people but creates memories. I hope to bring warmth, colour, and personality into everyday life through each and every design.
